How to add custom indicators or EA on Meta Trader on your computer?

Maximising the potential of your trading strategy often involves the use of custom indicators and Expert Advisors (EAs) on platforms like MetaTrader 4 (MT4) and MetaTrader 5 (MT5). In this article, we will guide you through the steps to add custom indicators and EAs to your MT4/MT5 platform. 

Note that you can not install custom indicators or Expect Advisor on mobile MetaTrader. 

To add custom trading indicators to your MT4 platform, log in to your MT4 account and follow these steps: 

1. Download and locate the custom indicator file on your computer. An indicator file usually contains an extension .mql4 or .ex4 
2. Log in to your MT4 trading platform, click 'File' and choose ‘Open Data Folder’. 
3. Click the ‘MQL4’ folder and select 'Indicators'. 
4. Drag the custom indicator file into the 'Indicators' folder. 
5. Right-click in the navigator section and choose 'Refresh' or simply exit the terminal and log in again.  
6. Look for your new indicator under the navigator section.
7. Drag the indicator to the forex chart area.
